Occupational Therapy is a field of "learning through doing". In the early 1900's occupational therapists discovered that the most successful way to help their patients heal and gain skills was through arts and crafts. Over the years OTs learned to merge crafting with medical principles for successful outcomes. In my 30 years experience as an OT, I have witnessed many times the magic that happens when I use an art or craft activity to address my patients challenges. This is especially true when I am working with children. My OT sessions are driven by a carefully chosen art project that merges your child's interests and gifts with their challenges. Creating with their hands, your child will achieve milestones, improve skills, and have so much fun they won't even know it's therapy!

My Services
My OT Evaluation will address your child's gifts as well as their challenges in order to develop a foundation for an individualized approach to helping your child gain the skills they need to be successful at home, school and play. My evaluation will include information about your child's learning style as well as age equivalencies for their fine motor, visual motor and visual perception skills so we can better understand what they are needing to help them gain success.

With the aid of the OT Evaluation and the Parent Consultation, I carefully choose creative activities that merge your child's interests and gifts with their challenges. By infusing your child's interests and talents into our OT sessions, your child will be engaged and encouraged as they work on the areas that are more difficult for them. The result is a unique session that will keep your child joyfully engaged and address the areas they need strengthened in order for them to be more successful.

Parent Consultation
Do you wonder how your child learns best? Do you worry your child is not meeting their developmental milestones? Do you see your child struggle with things other kids their age don't? Do you need ideas for your home school classroom or your nightly homework routine? I love collaborating with parents and sharing my tips and resources from my 30 year OT tool box. Let me assist you in helping your child achieve success at home, school and play.
